By late afternoon, we reach Merzouga, at the foot of the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes. Is that too much ground to cover in just 5 days?
The tour is designed to make the most of the north-south trip. Days 1 and 2 are more cultural (Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes, Fez), Day 3 is the transfer to the desert with stops along the way, and Days 4 and 5 combine the desert, gorges, and mountains. It’s well organized and never feels tedious.

Should we visit Volubilis and Meknes on the same day?
Yes, on the second day we combined both visits. First, the Roman ruins of Volubilis (with time to see the mosaics), then Meknes, with a stop at Bab Mansour and the medina. It was enough to see the highlights without rushing.
Can we see monkeys in the cedar forest?
Yes, on the 3rd we drove through the cedar forest in Azrou, where it’s very common to see Barbary macaques. You can get out of the vehicle to take pictures of them (but be careful—they’re mischievous).
