Itinerary - 3 Days to the Merzouga Desert from Marrakech
Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka – Aït Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Early departure from Marrakech heading south, climbing the spectacular roads of the High Atlas through the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking mountain views and the traditional Berber villages dotted along the mountainside.
The first major stop is the majestic Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This impressive adobe ksar, the setting for films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, invites you to lose yourself in its labyrinthine streets and discover its fascinating history.
After a lunch break (at your own expense), we will continue on to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” From the outside, we will admire the imposing Kasbah Taourirt and the famous film studios. The route continues along the legendary Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the palm grove of Skoura and the Valley of Roses, until we reach the spectacular Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at a charming hotel or guesthouse in the Dades, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

After breakfast, the adventure continues eastward, following the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Tinghir. The morning holds one of Morocco’s most impressive natural wonders: the Todra Gorges. Here, the road winds between towering rock walls that rise over 300 meters, creating a landscape of breathtaking beauty.
We will continue through the lush palm grove of Jorf, famous for its date production, and the desert oases surrounding Erfoud. Upon our arrival in Merzouga, the last town before the Sahara, we will stop at the edge of the dunes.
Then begins the most magical part of the trip: a camel ride that will take us deep into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, just in time to watch the sunset. The return journey passes through the Tafilalet palm grove and the historic town of Rissani, the former capital of the Alawite dynasty, famous for its lively traditional souks. The route then crosses the Anti-Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tferkhin Pass, offering rugged landscapes of great beauty.
