Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Aït Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
We begin our journey south, venturing into the majestic High Atlas Mountains and crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). The landscape changes dramatically as we leave the bustling city behind to discover Berber mountain villages and spectacular viewpoints.
Our first major stop is the monumental Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll have time to explore this impressive mud-brick ksar, the setting for famous films, and enjoy the views of the valley. We’ll continue along the ‘Route of a Thousand Kasbahs’, passing through Ouarzazate, until we reach the lush Dades Valley, where we’ll stay overnight in a cosy riad or hotel.
| 🛣️ Distance | Approx. 335 km |

| 🌅 Main stops | Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate (panoramic view) |
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga (Camel ride)
After breakfast, we’ll set off for Tinghir, passing through oases and small villages. The morning brings us one of Morocco’s geological wonders: the Todra Gorge. You’ll walk amongst imposing canyon walls that soar skywards – a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts.
We continue eastwards, where the landscape becomes increasingly arid until we reach the gateway to the Sahara. In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, at the foot of the gigantic dunes of Erg Chebbi. This is where the authentic desert experience begins: a camel ride on the back of your ‘ship of the desert’, just in time to witness the sunset behind the dunes. We’ll arrive at our Berber camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional dinner, local music and the magic of a starry night in the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga (Sunrise) – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Wake up to the tranquillity of the desert and, weather permitting, watch an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, we’ll leave Merzouga to begin our journey back west.
Our route will take us through the lush Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, famous for its endless palm groves and centuries-old kasbahs that watch over the river’s course. We will make several stops to take in the scenery and learn about life in this fertile region. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the ‘Gateway to the Desert’ and the capital of Moroccan cinema. Overnight stay in a hotel.
